You’ve been reading about Jeff Lipsky‘s work at this blog for the past almost five years, and now’s your chance to take a class with the celebrity and lifestyle photographer and learn directly from him. In March, Jeff will be teaching a four-day workshop on the art of the editorial portrait as part of the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.
Read the official course description below. And read what others have said about Jeff’s teaching skills here.

Jeff Lipsky.
During this four-day workshop you learn how to read and shape ambient light, and the ins and outs of location strobe and cover-lighting technique. Time is dedicated to reviewing how to interact not only with your clients but with your subject, be they a celebrity or a “real” person. Jeff leads us through the typical studio shoot and also takes us out on location, with assignments that focus on creating beautiful photographs for magazine covers, editorial spreads and portrait stories. Daily assignments are reviewed the following day.
Time is devoted to discussing the emotional and political delicacies often required for this particular line of work. Jeff freely dispenses tips on “the rest of the job,” including scouting locations, collaborating with and directing a photographic team (assistants, hair and makeup, and digital techs), the process of self-promotion (directed toward magazine clients), and how to look for an agent.
Join Jeff and learn the skills needed to draw the best out of your subjects, keep your clients happy, and keep you employed.
