We’re pleased to announce that Leica Gallery in Los Angeles has mounted an exhibition of Doug Menuez’s portraits of the next generation of technology innovators and entrepreneurs. The images in “Fearless Genius: The Next Generation,” which is on view through October 1, are primarily from a recent hackathon in which college students competed over a 48-hour period to see who would write the most elegant hack, or code, that could be used in an app.

“The differentiator at this event was that the top prize was given for the best hack for social good,” notes Doug. “That’s a very big deal. It represents the return of the early values of Silicon Valley that drove the biggest breakthroughs.”

This body of work, he explains, “builds upon my previous long-term documentary project and book about Silicon Valley, Fearless Genius: The Digital Revolution in Silicon Valley 1985–2000, which attempted to reveal the culture and daily lives of the secretive tribe of technologists, including Steve Jobs, working mightily to invent the technology that went on to change every aspect of human life. Who will be the next Steve Jobs and where will she come from?”
