Ashima Shiraishi is only 15 years old but has taken the sport of rock climbing by storm. As a recent profile of her by The New Yorker noted, she’s been called “the most talented rock climber in the world.”
Jimmy Chin photographed Ashima in New York City for an #urbanexploration collaboration with The North Face featured on Instagram. Below, some highlights from his shoot with Ashima, whom Jimmy says is “endlessly talented.”
“Last year, Ashima became one of the only people in the world to climb 5.15 and V15,” he notes, “which, for a lack of better words, is so gnarly.”
